- May 20, 1887 - Vladimir Lenin's brother is killed for planning to kill the Czar
- November 1, 1894 - Nicholas II's father dies and Nicholas II becomes the new leader of the Russian nation
- November 26, 1894 - Nicholas II marries Alexandra Fedorovna, whom he allows to greatly influence him
- December 20, 1895 - Vladimir Lenin is arrested and exiled to Serbia for the next three years
- May 26, 1896 - Nicholas II is officially made the new Czar
- July 30 - August 23, 1903 - Bolsheviks split up with the Mensheviks
- August 12, 1904 - Nicholas II has a child named Alexei
- January 22, 1905 - Bloody Sunday
- October 30, 1905 - Nicholas II promises to create a Duma to solve issues in the government
- July 28, 1914 - World War I begins
- December 30, 1916 - Grigori Rasputin, one of the most influential people of the Russian government at the time, is murdered
- March 8-12, 1917 - The February Revolution (or March Revolution) starts up in Petograd
- March 15, 1917 - Nicholas II finally abdicates and a provisional government is established
- April 16, 1917 - Vladimir Lenin returns
- July 16-20, 1917 - Vladimir Lenin is forced to go into hiding
- November 7, 1917 - October Revolution (or November Revolution)
- November 8, 1917 - The Bolshevik Party takes over Russia, led by Vladimir Lenin
- February 14, 1918 - The Bolshevik Party switch from the Julian Calendar to the Gregorian Calendar
- March 3, 1918 - The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk is signed between Russia and Germany, and Russia is no longer participating in the war
- March 8, 1918 - The Bolshevik Party becomes known as The Communist Party
- March 11, 1918 - Capital switches from St. Petersburg to Moscow
- June, 1918 - Civil War begins in Russia
- July 17, 1918 - The Czar and his family are all executed in
- August 30, 1918 - An attempt on Vladimir Lenin's life is made
- November, 1920 - The Russian Civil War ends
- April 3, 1922 - Joseph Stalin is made the General Secretary
- May 26, 1922 - Vladimir Lenin has his first stroke
- December 15, 1922 - Vladimir Lenin has a second stroke and retires
- December 30, 1922 - The U.S.S.R is established
- January 21, 1924 - Vladimir Lenin dies from another stroke and Joseph Stalin takes his place as leader of the U.S.S.R
